Nov 27, 2011 Oops. Looking at my Nov. 25 post -- well, I meant it all, but enthusiasm doesn't always contribute to brevity. I do have one other comment. The zap scene was very hard for me to watch, especially because of Spencer's apparent impatience with Phillip's pain, and also because I came to the conclusion that he was flirting with denying use of the safe word. At least it was implied. Yes, yes, I know, scripted, planned, etc. But I felt in this context Phillip would never use the safe word even in extremis, because he wanted to please his lover even when he was really falling off the edge, and that Spencer was badly misjudging the dynamic, therefore being a poor dom. What would have helped? Phillip begging to speak, being allowed to, telling Spencer he loved him and wanted to please him, but that right then, he, Phillip, was over the edge - and that what he needed was to be held and hugged and reassured for just a long minute. I don't know if models ever see these comments, but if so, guys I'd really value your thoughts. Great!
Nov 25, 2011 I'm a mature gay man and professional writer, studying BDSM as part of research for a piece on contemporary lifestyle choices. To my worry, as I began reviewing the copious content on kink.com, of every ilk, memories of very severe childhood abuse - which I thought therapy had made manageable - began sneaking up again. Result: uncontrollable crying jags, sleeping with the light on, looking over my shoulder, inability to trust even my friends, and a reluctance to go on with research. And we're talking giving up a paid job here! I don't want to overemphasize the merely personal on a general comment site, but I'm glad to say this session helped break through those fears to some extent, even as Spencer and Phillip worked to break through to a new level of intimacy with each other. The clear scripting, the careful reminders of fantasy vs. reality, the compassion for Phillip's tears and fears, the generally superb production values (I'm also an opera critic), the clear breaks in filming and presence of others offscreen, the pre- and post-interviews, and most especially the men's shining concern and love for each other, were very stabilizing. And the professional production crew and safe word explanation! I don't know if any kink.com models, directors, employees, etc. ever experienced abuse, but anyone who has knows that a safe word is an oxymoron, because it doesn't exist. The "session" only ends when They lose interest, they're discovered or interrupted (almost never), or you pass out. Therapy helps get the fear out of the brain, especially when the abuser is long dead, but it often stays in the gut. I'm grateful for Spencer and Phillip's courage and love in this session, because it shows that discipline and control in sex don't have to be like vulture claws.
