Some people smile as a defense mechanism because they don't know what emotion to express. Obviously, Ahryan did a lot of smiling, maybe even too much smirking in this video. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and maybe believe her that she's fairly new to the BDSM scene, is not just an actress out for a quick pay check, and just does not know how to take the video session seriously enough. Done right, that obstinate behavior can serve as a refreshing challenge, one that create an exciting tension between Mark's ability to wipe the smile off of Ahryan's face and her resistance to keep on smirking in defiance. Working with that tension could have created a "magic moment" where Mark completely breaks her down and her predominant emotion shifts from smiling to real worry, concern and fear from the domination and pain -- a real "turning point" that would have been exciting to watch. Unfortunately, as good a dom as Mark has been in the past, he lets her get away with too much in the scenes. He never really wipes the smile off her face - PERMANENTLY. He is far too easy on her and fails to gain complete control over her emotions to convert her into a willing, obedient, compliant sub. Sure, they go through all the motions... But in the end, there is still that vestige of a smirk on her face. That residue of defiance means that the sub Ahryan has actually "dommed" the dom Mark in the end. Too bad -- a waste of good talent -- a really hot babe and an experienced dom, but a very tame combination that fails to exploit Mark's ability to turn her smirk 180 degrees into a quivering demeanor.
